APN 201

My newest film is partly inspired by the Internet meme and partly by my own earlier film, Brainwash – and some might find influences also from films of other directors.

On Friday-Saturday night, I finished editing my latest short movie, Brothers.

It’s a movie about the differences in kids’ and adults’ perception on topics such as loneliness, sorrow, impatience and joy of re-unity. After making a couple of difficult-ish films I wanted to make something cute and simple – that hopefully touches people on some level.

On the limited test audiences the film worked as expected. Kids understood it differently than adults, but both seemed to like it.

Official premiere has not taken place yet. It might happen at some film festival next year.

Helsinki Short Film Festival (HLEF) was amazing. Great films, great people, great party. It was especially nice to share opinions with great gurus like P.V. Lehtinen.

My film, Brainwash, did not win, but that does not matter. The aspect of demonstrating the effects of torture by torturing the audience might not be the best way to get their sympathy.

Anyway the film that won (the experimental contest), Teemapuisto by Risto-Pekka Blom, was my personal favorite. Best film won.

Great news!
My film, Brainwash will compete for the title of best experimental film at Helsinki Short Film Festival in November 2015. Whish me luck!

Kouvola Film Festival has finally published the official programme for 2015. APN201 films compete in two categories, Brainwash in short film- and Deadweight in music video category.

I have been quiet for a while. Sorry for that.

Deadweight movie took some time, and holidays etc. Good news is that the movie will be screened at Kouvola Film Festival in October together with Brainwash.

If you did not notice yet, my front page has changed. That is very very exciting!

I will very soon launch a series of unique APN201 Design jewelry. Cannot wait!

Things are happening!

Since Rotterdam I have invested a lot in new camera equipment. I have bought new tripod, light, microphone etc. Only thing missing is the new camera. I bought it used online from a private person. She took my money but no sign of camera yet. That’s always the problem with girls – they take your money and leave.

Regardless the camera problem I have not been standing still. I managed to sell a painting. A bar owner in Finland fell in love with my rabbit mask painting.

I have also been experimenting with embedded electronics. One of my future projects will be a fusion between traditional painting and modern electronics. It’s yet to come. Just now I’m just testing different simple projects to regain my skill.

I have also started a publishing project. I published an unique photo book that will be part of future installation. I also published a magazine, because I promised to order one for my nephews but those things do not exist anymore. There are no magazines for small guys in paper format – so I made my own.
