I made a thing called Neo Kouvola. It is an ASCII city engine — one file, one endless city, everyone shares the same map.
It lives at helppox.com/kvl.html.
Click to jack in. WASD to walk, mouse to look. The city is 128 by 128 blocks, toroidal — walk one way and you come back around the other side. Roads, blocks, props, lights. A raycaster draws it all in ASCII on a canvas.
There is a train. Cars drift through the streets. Pedestrians standing about their business. Drones overhead, trees in the parks. Neon signs flicker on wet asphalt. The sound is all WebAudio synthesis — engine hum, step sequencer music, the crackle of a datawall.
Press H for the full control list. Y talks, T tags, ENTER opens the chat. The chat is real — if someone else is in the city at the same time, you share the space.
Everything is text. That is the rule. The buildings have character textures: windows, signage, datawalls. The street reflects in glyphs. The sky is a gradient of semigraphics. It looks like something a mainframe would dream in 1987.
